Posted - 09/24/2011 : 14:05:39 I have a computer with EPoX EP-4BDAE motherboard. CPU socket type is 478. Maximum FSB is 400MHz. My current processor is Pentium 4 1.5GHz, 400MHz FSB, and 256KB L2.
I would like to know what is the fastest Pentium 4 processor I can safely install. The booklet for the mobo notes 1.5 ~ 2.2 GHz, but I know that at the time of writing the booklet 2.2GHz was the fastest processor. Can I safely install a 2.4, 2.6, or 2.8 GHz Intel Pentium 4, Socket 478, 400MHz FSB, 512KB L2 processor?
Thank you. |

Posted - 09/28/2011 : 12:02:43 Thanks. Can I really install a 533 MHz version of Intel P4 Socket 478 processor on my EPox EP-4BDAE Mobo? The booklet says the max FSB of my mobo is 400 MHz. I am not looking to overclock my mobo or my processor. I just want to install a processor which will not require me to tweak the bios settings. |
